What is M-MAT Tele?

M-MAT Tele is an online therapy program for people with aphasia. It is based on Multi-Modality Aphasia Therapy (M-MAT). In M-MAT Tele, a small group meets on video calls. The group practises everyday communication. A speech pathologist supports the group.

In each session, you play structured card games. The games practise everyday words, phrases, and sentences. You can use gesture, drawing, writing, and reading to help. The aim is to improve spoken communication.

Therapy is in groups of 3 people with aphasia. It runs for 2 hours a day, 3 days a week, for 5 weeks. (30 hours in total). All you need is a tablet or computer, a stable internet connection, and a quiet space at home.

• I have aphasia (language difficulty)
• I don't have other neurological (brain) conditions
• I spoke English before my stroke (English can be your second language)
• I can use a tablet or computer (Even a little bit!)
• I don't have severe apraxia of speech or severe slurred speech (we can check for you)
